Almost daily we receive requests for permission to use our photos. The reasons for use varies a lot, some like to use them for student projects, some for personal websites and some for commercial magazines and newspapers. Some won't even say what they like to use them for. Whatever reason we are very happy for this interest from our visitors, and to make the use of our photos simpler and quicker, both for you and us, we have now implemented an option to purchase photos directly from the Gallery. Some can even use them for free, please read this article first.

See under "Purchase conditions" if you need to pay to use a photo, if you buy a photo from us, consider it as a support for this site. When you need a photo for your project, website, magazine or just to hang on the wall just go the photo you want in the Gallery and use the "Purchase Options - Add to Cart" drop down menu. Note that we have many more images from Indonesia than what is posted in the Gallery, please ask for additional photos.

You can start using the "Low Resolution" photos at once, higher resolutions will be sent you in an e-mail, CD (for an additional fee) or we can copy them to a ftp-site, while prints has to be made and posted. We would still appreciate a note where you tell us what you like to use the photos for, but you don't need a written permision anymore to use photos you have purchased.

When you click on an item it will be put in a PayPal shopping cart, from there you can go directly to "Checkout" or continue shopping. You can at any time see your shopping cart by clicking the "View Cart" button above the images. When you go to "Checkout" you will need to create an account in PayPal, if you don't already have one. But don't worry, this is a quick and perfectly safe procedure, PayPal is one of the most trusted and used methods for money transactions on the web today.

General conditions

• High resolutions and prints will be sent as soon as possible after receipt of payment, but delivery time can not be guranteed.
• Complaints concerning our work or deliveries must be formulated at the latest fifteen days after the purchase have been made available.
• Any resale or rental of the photographs to a third party is prohibited without our agreement.
• The name/copyright of the photographer must appear with each reproduction of the photo.
• The purchase covers "Single Use" only of a photo (see below).
• Copyright and Reproduction Rights are Reserved by the photographer (see below).
• We will not be held liable for any damages, loss or other costs that are caused directly or indirectly from images supplied, or failure to supply any image.

Purchase conditions

See below what category you should choose, non-profit, commercial, or even free use.

• Personal, non-profit web page of an individual: Use the "non-profit" rates.
• Other personal, non-profit use by individuals: You can, free of charge, copy images marked "© Bjorn Grotting" from our website for use in printed work, but not for webpages. Please ask first.
• Personal use by students for non-profit school projects: You can, free of charge, copy images marked "© Bjorn Grotting" from our website for use in printed work, but not for webpages. You do not need to ask first, but an acknowledgement would be appreciated.
• Small Business web page: Use the "non-profit" rates.
• Small Charity and small non-profit organization web page: Use the "non-profit" rates.
• Large charities, non-government and/or non-profit organizations: Use the "non-profit" rates.
• Corporate clients: Use the "commercial" rates.
• Government and Governmental Corporations: Use the "commercial" rates.
• Images used for prints in commercial products: Magazines, newspapers, postcards, calendars, brochures and so on; Use the "commercial" rates.

Restrictions on use

Buying a photo doesn't mean you buy the copyright, that still belongs to the photographer. What you buy is the right to use the photo once for a certain purpose.

You pay for a "Single use" of the photo, you can only use it on one website, one magazine and so on. That means you can't buy a photo and then let all your friends use it as well. If you're not sure what category you should purchase, feel free to contact us first.

Prices

Prices will be kept as low as possible, barely enough to cover the cost of photo material and preparation of an image. Not all the photos have the same resolution/quality, some are even not for sale. We have therefore split them in separate categories, prices can be seen in the Photo Gallery (please see above for Purchase conditions and Restrictions on use):

• Category A: Scanned slides/negatives at 2400 dpi
• Category B: Digital camera
• Category C: Only same size as in the Gallery (typically 550*370 pixels)
• Category X: Not_for_Sale
• Category F: Free_to_Use

"Free_to_Use" is images we have decided to let you use free of charge and Public domain photos, these you can download and use as much as you like!

"Low_Resolution" means you can just download the digital photo from the Gallery yourself (right click the photo and click "Save picture as..."). If you don't find the resolution or print size you are looking for in the list please send us an e-mail, and we may sort something out, we can also ship the photos on CD if you prefer (for an additional fee).

We are open for negotiations if you order a large quantity of photos, please feel free to contact us.

We welcome any feedback on this new service. This will mean the end of free use of our photos, but if you still think you have a plausible cause to request permission to use our photos for free, you can of course still ask.

Final note: All photography copyrights are exclusively held by the photographers and their representatives. No images may be copied from this website unless purchased, marked as "Free to use", specified as free of charge (see Purchase conditions) or a written permission is granted. "Hotlinking" (view a photo in the Gallery on another site while it is still physically located on our server) is not welcome at all.
