Lombok is known for it's natural beauty and a large variety of landscapes, from tropical beaches to high mountains, dry plains and deep forests. The island is considered to be more "unspoiled" than Bali, tourism is still limited to just a few areas. The size of the island is 5.435 square km, which is relatively small, about 80 times 70 kilometer. Lombok has one of the highest mountains in Indonesia, Gunung Rinjani at 3.726 meters. |

Java is covered with 110 volcanoes in a mountain chain stretching from east to west, 35 of them are still active and occasionally erupts. Even if an eruption can cause a lot of damage and suffering, it is also the reason why Java is one of the most fertile agriculturural regions in the world. Compared to other geographic regions the volcanic ash here is non-acid, on the contrary it nurtures the soil and the plant life. |

If you are planning a trip, wherever you are going, a good map is an essential tool to help you decide where to go and how to get there. But there are still areas of Indonesia which are not properly mapped, in fact hardly mapped at all. It is also hard to find any good, detailed maps on the web. To help you we have collected what we think are some of the best Indonesian maps on the net, some are just for an overview, while others are scans of more detailed professional maps. A detailed map will necessarily contain a lot of information, and therefore be quite big and may take some time to download. |
