Durians
« on: February 14, 2005, 06:41:20 PM »

First of all,
I found this website by accident as I was searching thru the Balinese dance classes in Chicago. Honestly, I'm really impressed! You did a fantastic job, Bjorn!!

It's a really helpful site & all the pictures are awesome, esp. the durians, I could only get the frozen ones here

It's been five years since I last went home, and it's time to go back, SOON!!!

Thanks dienwi!

You should definitely go back and try the fresh Durian again! I don't remember when the Durian season is, but there are also loads of other fruit wich are very interesting, and there is always season for one of them. Does anyone know when the Durian season is?

I would like to see larger versions of the photos, would that be possible?

All photos are scaled to fit the site layout, and optimized to the web. Larger photos would mean more use of bandwidth, which with the limitied bandwidth and disc space on the server would mean that I must decrease the number of photos on the site a lot. Size of photos on the web will always be a compromise.

If there is one particular photo you would see a larger version of I could always mail it to you.

School kid,

Durians are v. exotic fruit in S.E. Asia, and so far I think Indonesia's durians are the best.

The trees are tall, and the fruits would fall down by themselves as they ripe. There's a saying: "Mati ketimpa durian" meaning, died from durians fall. They are heavy and thorny.
The smell is really strong, but i loooovveeeeee it!!

You might be able to find out more if you search online.

So nobody knows when the season is???

If I'm not get wrong, Durian Season in Indonesia is from February till April.

No More in May (habis! Kodong Kodong), some in January but very small dan tidak manis !!

Have you allready try Durian mixed with wine palm tree (tuak / ballok) make you fly! Kupu kupu...

A lot of bule (aka belanda / foreigner) don't like the taste but I love it even my kid!

Good new next week I will be in Indonesia, right at the time for the best of the season! Hahaha

Note: For Rambutan it's December, January and February.
