Hello everyone,
i'm a timber merchant from pakistan. i want to get some information regarding timber in indonesia.my first question is; which area in indonesia produces the most timber and which city should i go to to buy timber. i'm specially looking for Red Meranti and Salangan Batu(balau).
i have already visited indonesia once for timber business but my trip wasn't much fruitfull as i didn't do much homework and didn't know where to go for these woods.
anyway i am gonna visit indonesia agaion in a few weeks time so please i would really appreciate if anyone could help me regarding my questions.
Thanking You.

Please remember that several tree species in the genera Shorea and Hopea are endangered, meranti and balau among those.
Make sure to look for certified timber! Maybe a good start to look for timber is by searching for certification agencies operative in Indonesia?
